ELECT DAVE WALKER
WAUPACA COUNTY SHERIFF

VOTE for Dave Walker in the September 14 Republican Primary

UNITING LAW ENFORCEMENT IN WAUPACA COUNTY

"My decision to run for Sheriff was based primarily on some of the experiences I’ve heard from county employees, citizens within Waupaca County and from my own personal observations performing my current duties as Chief of Police in the City of Manawa. In addition, I have received encouragement from local Chiefs of Police, and many others in the community; all who have expressed a desire for positive change in the Sheriff’s Office for fair, open and professional leadership.”

WHY I WAS APPROACHED TO RUN:

o      LEAD BY EXAMPLE

They have come to know me as a leader and one who does not accept the status-quo. They want and demand a Sheriff who abides by the best management practice of simply, to “lead by example.”

o      BEST INTEREST OF ALL PEOPLE

They want me to be Sheriff because I’m not a “local” entrenched in doing things the old way or continuing practices that ascribe to - that’s the way we’ve always done it. I will bring my outside administrative experiences and skills to examine and determine a different approach to law enforcement in the county that will represent the best interests of all people in Waupaca County.

o     DO THE RIGHT THING, AT THE RIGHT TIME, IN THE RIGHT WAY FOR THE RIGHT REASON

Members of the public have expressed the need to improve the Sheriff’s Office reputation and professional standards e.g. last year’s investigation into misappropriation of county equipment – using county cars off duty and for personal benefit. Community members and department members want and deserve accountability…to ensure the Sheriff and his administration will do the right thing at all times.

TEAM WORK PHILOSOPHY

My philosophy has always been to work as part of a “team,” from peers, subordinates and supervisors including other government agencies and community leaders, whom I’ve rallied together to make things happen on both short-term and long-term projects.
The most recent example is to form the Waupaca Area Computer Crimes Task Force (Internet Crimes Against Children Initiative) which includes the cities of Manawa, Marion, Clintonville, New London, Waupaca and most recently, the Sheriff’s Office.

In this tough economic climate, we can no longer continue to do business as usual; we have to do it smarter, more cost effectively and wherever possible, share resources between the county law enforcement agencies.

With your help we can bring positive change to the Sheriff's Office for open, professional leadership and accountability. My goal is to improve the morale and professional standards in the Sheriff's Office, so we can improve efficiency, professionalism and collaboration throughout the county. I have the skill set, experience and proven ability to do that.

The importance and outcome of this election is not about me, it's about "us."
